Navratri 2026 dates in Ahmedabad

• Navratri: Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October 2026, with Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami both on Monday 19 October.
• Dussehra (Vijayadashami): Tuesday 20 October 2026. Several grounds hold a final night on 20 October.
• Pre-Navratri nights: a few events are on Saturday 10 October, and one ground began on 4 October.
• Weekends: weekend nights (Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October) are usually the most crowded, so arrive early.

Ahmedabad's sheri Garba tradition

Long before party plots, Ahmedabad played Garba in its sheris and pols, the lanes and gated neighbourhoods of the old walled city, and in the courtyards of housing societies. A garbo lamp or an image of Mataji is placed at the centre, families gather after dinner, and the circle grows through the night to the sound of traditional Garba songs. Many societies still hold their own Garba every night of Navratri, free for residents. If you have friends or relatives in the city, ask whether their society or pol has a Garba; it is often the most traditional experience in Ahmedabad.

City festival grounds and AC domes

The Vibrant Navratri Festival is Gujarat Tourism's state festival. The Incredible India listing gives GMDC Ground; Gujarat Tourism's own page still showed 2025 dates and Gujarat University Ground on 7 October, so check again closer to the date. Air-conditioned domes are a comfortable option if October evenings are still warm. Sachi and Parampara have not yet published a street address.

Party plots, farms and clubs (multi-night)

Party plots and farms on the city's edges, such as Bopal, South Bopal, Bhadaj and Nikol, host many of the multi-night Garba grounds. Raatladi is listed under Ahmedabad but its venue is in Lilapur. Inner Circle Garba is listed under Ahmedabad, but its address (Adhana, PIN 384441) is outside the city, so check the location on the event page before you plan your trip.

Single Garba nights, pre-Navratri and sheri-style events

If you are in Ahmedabad for only one evening, a single-night event is an easy way in. The sheri-style night recreates the feel of street Garba at a party lawn. Pre-Navratri events on 10 October fall on the eve of Ghatasthapana.

Gandhinagar, GIFT City and Adalaj

Gandhinagar is a short drive from north Ahmedabad, and GIFT City and Adalaj lie between the two cities, so these grounds are practical for families in north and west Ahmedabad too. Check each event page for directions and parking.

• Late nights: Garba in Ahmedabad often runs until late. Plan your ride home in advance, travel in a group, and share your live location with family.
• Women's safety: save the Gujarat police and national women's helpline numbers on your phone before you leave, and use registered cabs or autos.
• Traffic and parking: roads near big grounds on the S G Highway, in Bopal and in Gandhinagar get very busy; check the venue's page for parking and leave early.
• Passes: buy only on the listed event page or from the organiser, and be careful with passes resold on social media.
• Children: keep little ones in the outer circle, agree a meeting point and carry water.
• Dress and rules: many grounds expect ethnic wear and have rules on bags and entry times; read the event page.
