Devi (Bhagavathy) temple · Vairankode, Tirunavaya, Malappuram, Kerala, India
Sree Vairankode Bhagavathy Temple is a Hindu temple to the goddess Bhagavathy at Vairankode (PIN 676301), near Tirunavaya in Malappuram district, Kerala. It is administered by the Sree Vairankode Bhagavathy Devaswam, according to Kerala Tourism's festival directory.
Faith & Tradition
The temple's main festival, the Theeyattu (Theeyyattutsavam), is usually held in February (Kerala Tourism). The 'Cheriya Theeyattu' precedes the 'Valiya Theeyattu'; before the main day, people from different localities (desams) bring decorated pairs of effigy bulls (inappoykkala) in the 'Kalakalyanam' procession, which gather at Athavanad Azhvanchery Mana along with folk art forms. The festival ground also becomes a market for local produce, notably freshwater fish, Mathrubhumi reported.
Heritage
In September 2019 Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the Bhagavati temple at Vairankode during a tour of Malappuram temples, The Hindu reported.
