Faith & Tradition
Thirukurungudi is home to the Vaishnava tradition of Kaisika Ekadasi, when the Kaisika Nataka — the story of the devotee Nambaduvan, told through dance, music and drama — is presented as worship (The Hindu). By tradition, the temple's flag-mast stands slightly to one side so that Nambaduvan could see the Lord (Dinamalar).
By tradition, Thirumangai Alvar composed his last verses here before attaining moksha (The Hindu). The temple also has a shrine to Shiva inside the Vishnu temple; Tamil Nadu's HR&CE minister visited it in 2022, and its newly built Shiva shrine was consecrated in June 2023 (Dinamani).
Heritage
Five-tier rajagopuram and Panchaketa vimana (The Hindu; Dinamalar).
