Quick answer: We found 24 upcoming Garba and Dandiya listings in 22 towns and cities across seven European countries for Navratri 2026: Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Belgium and Sweden. Navratri runs from Sunday 11 to Monday 19 October 2026 (Drik Panchang), and most European Garba nights fall on the weekends of 10 to 11 October and 16 to 18 October, with a few community events after Navratri in late October. Always confirm with the organiser before you travel.

Event status key: Confirmed means the date and venue appear on the organiser's own page or its official ticket page. Announced means the organiser has announced the event but full details (timings, programme) were not yet published. Listed — confirm with organiser means we saw the event only on a third-party listing or community site, so please verify it directly.

Garba in Europe is mostly organised by Gujarati Samaj associations, Indian community associations and a few event groups. Unlike Gujarat, where Garba runs every night of Navratri, European events are usually one long afternoon or evening in a rented sports hall or community centre, timed for a weekend. Below is every 2026 event we could verify, country by country.

  • Navratri: Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October 2026 (Drik Panchang, India). Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami both fall on Monday 19 October.
  • Dussehra (Vijayadashami): Tuesday 20 October 2026.
  • Main Garba weekends in Europe: Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October (the eve and first day of Navratri), and Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October.
  • After Navratri: some associations hold their Garba later, on 24, 25 and 31 October, when halls are easier to book.

For the full festival calendar, the nine forms of the Devi and puja timing in European cities, see our Sharadiya Navratri 2026 Europe guide and the Navratri 2026 NRI guide.

Germany

Germany has the largest number of Garba listings in continental Europe this year, mostly run by city Gujarati Samaj associations. Our Garba 2026 Germany guide has the full city-by-city tables with venues and source links. In short:

  • Sat 10 Oct: Sindelfingen, Stuttgart area (Gujarati Samaj Stuttgart).
  • Sat 17 Oct: Berlin (Gujarati Samaj Berlin), Hamburg (Gujarati Samaj Hamburg e.V.), Stuttgart (Gujarati Samaj Stuttgart), Garching bei München (Munich Gujarati Samaj e.V., also on 18 Oct) and Herrischried near the Swiss border (Hochrheine Indian Community).
  • Sun 18 Oct: Frankfurt am Main (Gujarati Samaj Germany e.V., youth Garba, open to all; all ticket categories shown sold out on 7 October) and Düsseldorf (Indo-German Konnekt).

An open-air pre-Navratri event in Frankfurt by Indo-German Konnekt was already held on 26 September. For Navratri puja and temple information, see the Sharadiya Navratri 2026 Germany guide.

Netherlands

Gujarati Samaj Netherlands (GSNL) runs three regional Garba nights in the Amsterdam, Utrecht and Eindhoven areas, and Bridging the Gap Foundation has two further listings.

Switzerland

Swiss Garba is spread across the German- and French-speaking regions, organised by Indian associations in Geneva, Zurich and Lausanne and by a dedicated Ras Garba association.

The Baden-area event states that dinner is included with the ticket. The Zug event was found on a community listing site only. Herrischried in Germany, close to the Swiss border, is another option for readers in northern Switzerland (see the Germany guide).

Ireland

All three Irish listings are in Dublin, on the weekends of 10 and 17 to 18 October.

Finland

Gujarati Samaj Finland ry held its Navaratri Mahotsav with live Garba in Helsinki on Sunday 4 October, before Navratri began, and the event is already over. We found no further 2026 Garba listing in Finland; follow Gujarati Samaj Finland for any later gathering.

Countries with no 2026 Garba listing found

When we checked on 7 October 2026 we found no public 2026 Garba listing for Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway or Portugal. Indian communities live in all of these countries, so small Garba evenings may still take place. Here is how to find one:

  • Gujarati Samaj and Indian associations: search for a Gujarati Samaj or Indian association in your city; they usually announce Navratri on their websites, Facebook and Instagram pages two to four weeks ahead.
  • Hindu temples: temples often hold Navratri puja and an evening of Garba in their own hall, sometimes free or donation-based.
  • Indian embassy community calendars: Indian embassies and consulates sometimes share community cultural events on their websites or social pages.
  • Student associations: Indian student associations at universities often hold a Garba or Dandiya night for students and friends.
  • Ask in community groups: local Indian WhatsApp and Facebook groups are often the fastest way to hear about a small Garba evening.

The same tips apply if you live in a European city that is not listed above, even in a country where we did list events.

Why Garba is devotional

Garba is a circular dance offered to the Goddess, Ma Amba or Durga, during Navratri. Dancers move around a garbo, a clay pot with a lamp inside, or around an image of Mataji. As traditionally understood, the lamp represents the Divine light within every life, and the circle of dancers reflects the cycle of time around the unchanging Goddess. That is why a Garba night usually begins with an aarti, and why it is treated as worship rather than only a party. Read more in Garba meaning and spiritual significance, the history of Garba from Gujarat to the world and Navratri mantras and prayers before Garba. Many European events also include Dandiya Raas with sticks; see Garba vs Dandiya Raas for the difference.

First-timer tips for Garba in Europe

  • Dress: chaniya choli, kediyu or a bright kurta all work. See our Garba dress guide. Many dancers follow the Navratri 2026 colours.
  • Weather: October evenings in northern Europe are cold and often wet. Wear a coat over your outfit and carry your dancing shoes or check whether bare feet are allowed.
  • Etiquette: bow to Mataji when you arrive, stand quietly for the aarti, never cross the centre of the circle, and keep the event alcohol-free.
  • Beginners: start in the outer, slower circle and copy the dancers in front. Our Garba for beginners guide explains the basic steps.
  • Kids: agree a meeting point, keep young children in the outer circle and take water breaks.
  • Travel and parking: many venues are sports halls on the edge of town. Check the venue's page for public transport and parking, and plan for a late return.
  • Tickets: several events sell out in advance. Buy only through the organiser's own page or the official ticket link.

Details change — always confirm date, venue and tickets on the organiser's official page before you travel. Listings are for information; HinduTone is not affiliated with organisers.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find Garba near me in Europe in 2026?

Community Garba nights for Navratri 2026 are listed in Germany (Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, the Munich and Stuttgart areas and Herrischried), the Netherlands (Amsterdam area, Utrecht area, Eindhoven area), Switzerland (Geneva, Zug, Baden area, Zurich area, Lausanne area), Dublin, the Paris area, Brussels and Stockholm. If your city is not listed, check the local Gujarati Samaj, Hindu temple or Indian association website and social pages.

When is Garba in Europe in 2026?

Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday 11 to Monday 19 October (Drik Panchang, India), with Dussehra on Tuesday 20 October. Most European Garba nights fall on the weekends of 10 to 11 and 16 to 18 October, and a few community events are held after Navratri, on 24, 25 and 31 October.

Is Garba free in Europe?

Most Garba nights in Europe are ticketed because organisers hire sports halls and community venues, and some tickets include dinner or dandiya sticks. Prices and child concessions vary, so check the organiser's ticket page. Temple Garba evenings are sometimes free or donation-based.

What should I wear to Garba in Europe?

Traditional chaniya choli or kediyu is common, but a kurta or any bright, modest outfit is fine. October evenings are cool, so bring a warm layer for travelling, and check whether the hall wants indoor shoes or allows bare feet.

Can non-Gujaratis join Garba in Europe?

Yes. Several organisers state that their events are open to everyone, and Garba circles generally welcome newcomers from any background. Stand respectfully for the aarti, start in the outer circle and follow the venue's rules.

Is there Garba in Italy, Spain or Denmark in 2026?

We did not find a 2026 Garba listing for Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway or Portugal when we checked on 7 October 2026. That does not mean there is none: smaller community or temple events are often announced only on social pages or in WhatsApp groups.

Editor's note (7 October 2026)

We compiled these listings on 7 October 2026 from organiser websites, official ticket pages and, where marked, third-party listings and community sites. We did not include ticket prices or performers, and we left out events that had already taken place. Navratri dates follow Drik Panchang for India. Event details are set by the organisers and can change; we will update this page as more European Garba nights are announced. Organisers who want to correct or add an event can contact HinduTone.
