Events are usually a single long afternoon and evening on a weekend, held in a sports or event hall, rather than nine consecutive nights as in Gujarat. No Garba listed in your German city?
We list only events we could verify on 7 October 2026. Many smaller Garba evenings in Germany are organised by temples, student groups or local Indian associations and announced only on their own pages. To find one near you:
- Gujarati Samaj and Indian associations: search for an Indian or Gujarati association in your city or region; most post Navratri plans on their websites, Facebook or Instagram.
- Hindu temples: temples often hold Navratri puja and sometimes a Garba evening in their hall.
- Universities: Indian student associations in university towns often host a Garba or Dandiya night.
- Indian missions: the Indian embassy in Berlin and consulates sometimes share community cultural events on their websites or social pages.
- Travel to a neighbouring city: the events above are spread across the country, and regional trains make a day trip practical.
Practical tips for Garba in Germany
- October weather: evenings are cool and often wet. Travel in a warm coat and comfortable shoes, and change into your Garba outfit at the venue if facilities allow.
- Indoor halls: almost every event is in a sports hall or event hall. Many German sports halls ask for clean indoor shoes or socks only, so check the venue's page and carry soft, flat shoes.
- Public transport: most venues are in towns or city districts served by local trains or buses; check the venue's page for directions, and check the timetable for your return, as some events finish at 10 PM or later and late connections thin out.
- Parking: parking near halls can fill quickly; check the venue's page and consider car-sharing with friends.
- Bringing family: these are family events. Bring snacks and water for children, agree a meeting point, and keep little ones in the outer circle.
- Tickets: several German events sell out before the day. Buy only via the organiser's page or its official ticket link.
Why Garba is devotional
Garba is danced in a circle around a garbo, a clay pot with a lamp inside, or an image of Ma Amba, the Goddess worshipped during Navratri. As traditionally understood, the lamp represents the Divine light within every life, and the circle of dancers reflects the cycle of time around the Goddess at the centre. That is why the evening usually begins with an aarti. For German friends and colleagues joining for the first time, it helps to explain that Garba is joyful worship, not just a dance party. Read more in Garba meaning and spiritual significance, the history of Garba from Gujarat to the world and Navratri mantras and prayers before Garba.
First-timer tips
- Dress: see our Garba dress guide, and the Navratri 2026 colours if you like to follow the colour of the day.
- Steps: start with the two-clap step in the outer circle. Our Garba for beginners guide explains it simply.
- Dandiya: several German events include dandiya with sticks later in the evening. See Garba vs Dandiya Raas.
- Etiquette: bow to Mataji on arrival, stand for the aarti, do not cross the centre, and keep the evening alcohol-free.
Details change — always confirm date, venue and tickets on the organiser's official page before you travel. Listings are for information; HinduTone is not affiliated with organisers.

Is Garba free in Germany?
The events listed here are ticketed, as organisers rent halls; some tickets include dinner or food. Munich has separate member and non-member tickets for 18 October. Check each organiser's page for current ticket options, and buy early, as some events sell out.
What should I wear to Garba in Germany?
Chaniya choli, kediyu or any bright, modest outfit is fine. October in Germany is cool and often rainy, so travel in a warm coat, carry your dancing shoes, and check whether the hall allows bare feet or asks for clean indoor shoes.
Can non-Gujaratis join Garba in Germany?
Yes. The Frankfurt youth Garba is described by its organiser as open for all, and Garba circles generally welcome friends, colleagues and neighbours of every background. Stand respectfully for the aarti and start in the outer, slower circle.
Is there Garba in Cologne or other German cities?
We did not find a separate 2026 listing for other German cities when we checked on 7 October 2026. Düsseldorf is the listed event for North Rhine-Westphalia. Smaller temple or community Garba evenings are often announced only locally, so ask at your nearest temple or Indian association.
Editor's note (7 October 2026)
We compiled this list on 7 October 2026 from organiser websites and official ticket pages for each event. We do not include ticket prices or performers, and we have left out events that already took place, except to mention them. Navratri dates follow Drik Panchang for India. Organisers set and may change the details; we will update this page as more Garba nights in Germany are announced.
